New Year, New Pictures

This is my late Happy New Year!!

This year the Hill's have started off on

the right foot. Wayne and I have been working out

at the gym 5 days a week. We figure since Samuel is

~~walking~~ running now, we need ALL the energy we can get to

keep up with him. Wayne's also back in school, working he will be done

in July, then just have to shadow till September. I'm still in the

primary presidency, and love it! Wayne was recently called

to primary as well teaching all the senior primary boys. He definitely has

his hands full.We are all moved in to our new townhome, and have to

admit are LOVING it! Thank you Wes and Diya!

Anyhow, I wanted to share some pictures that my sister

Natalie, and best friend Sabrina took of us. Thank you

Dreaming of a White Christmas

This year for Christmas we were able to spend it in Spokane with

my family. Living in Florida made it a little difficult to get into the

Christmas spirit. When we arrived to Spokane I was sad to find

no snow. Winter can come and go without much snow, and I am

perfectly fine, on ONE condition. Christmas Day. I NEED snow.

Christmas Eve came, and so did the snow! I was tempted to run out

barefooted and run around since that was my sister Abby's and my

tradition growing up... (maybe it was all my older siblings traditions,

I just adapted to it later...) But instead of running barefooted, I grabbed

Samuel, put his warm coat on, hat i'd be waiting to see

him wear, and put socks on his hands. I interrupted Wayne's football game,

so he too could come outside with me.

There is no place more beautiful then my home in the snow...

Samuel Turns ONE!

Sam Turned ONE on December 20th. Unfortunately, we were traveling

that day to Spokane so we celebrated a few days later which worked

out perfectly! The majority of my family was there, and some of my closest

friends were able to make it. Although Sam had a terrible nap that day,

he seemed to really enjoy himself. He ate half his cake, and especially

liked wearing his fun birthday hat:)

Even though it was the ideal day, I was still so sad to think my

little boy was one year old!

Picture Taking

So I am FINALLY learning how to use my camera. I got my camera almost

TWO years ago and never knew all it could do. The #1 reason I wanted

a SLR was so when I had children I could take quality pictures of them.

I now have a child, he is growing FAST! I figure if i'm going to learn to use it,

better be now!

My best friend Sabrina gave me an amazing lens for my birthday that

she felt I would love, and she was right. Thank you Sabrina! Now

maybe if only I can become as good of a photographer as her...

someday....

Yesterday we decided to go to the beach. Wayne wasn't too thrilled

that I hadn't shared my idea of taking pictures. He said he would have dressed

differently. But anyone who knows Wayne KNOWS the Wayne in

Flat rim hats, is the only Real Wayne. But he did a great job shooting

lots and lots of photos for me. I must admit the sun was working against us,

but we did our best. Let me know what you think!

Trunk Or Treat

As you can tell, Samuel was a Lion for Halloween. I must say, he was the most adorable Lion I have ever seen. We attended our wards trunk or treat which I was in charge of face painting. Not my specialty, but it worked out okay. I mainly stuck to butterflies, and flowers. One kid wanted me to paint a dead zombie... yeah I wasn't about to attempt that one. All in all it was a great night with Chili, desserts and friends.

I LOVE FALL!!!!!
It truly is my favorite season of all. Sweater weather... kinda, lots of soup, flannels, Perro and peppermint tea in the morning. Florida still hasn’t got quite the cool nip that I’m normally used to YET, but I know soon enough it will cool down more. And now I love Fall even more because I get to watch my little boy pick out a pumpkins and go trick or treating. Love.

I have always loved abstract art. Growing up, I had Picasso's paintings on my wall, Van Gogh's Starry Night, and enjoyed my own sister Abby's beautiful work. To this day I still have art in my apartment however, I am now going to add the most rare beauty of them all.

I know, I could sell it for thousands, even millions. It is one of those painting where you can just look... and keep on looking... ask yourself What is it? My sister in Law Diya thought it looked like a tree. I definitely agree there. But it is so much more than a tree. It was created by this little man...

Like all artist, we go through phases where we LOVE IT!

and HATE it.

But no matter how hard we are on ourselves, there are always

those people who find the beauty in the things we do.

And who could forget this little artist...

St Augustine

Wayne finished his last test for this half of semester on Thursday, so I had a FREE husband on Friday! We decided to take a little trip to St Augustine. It is the oldest city in the United States and it is beautiful! This small town is right on the ocean, with blocks of small antiques shops, chocolate shops, and delicious gelato everywhere! Yum! The temperature was perfect. About 75 degrees all day so we just wanted to be outside. We enjoyed seeing the Castillo De San Marcos which is an old Spanish fort. They still shoot canons out of it every half hour or so. They have live pirate shows the go on, so randomly you’ll see a pirate walking down the street. I’ve also been trying to learn how to use my camera that Ive had for almost 2 years now. It’s a working process... All in all it was a great day!

For anyone who isn't Mormon reading this post may be a little confused... if you are Mormon then I think you'll find my humor in this...

Today in church was Fast and Testimony Meeting. I enjoy this meeting more than any other, mainly because I enjoy hearing the little primary kids speak. However, I think I have a new reason why I love this meeting. There is an old southern black woman probably in her 80s or so named Sister Brown. I remember one of the first weeks of coming to this ward she came up to me with a big smile on her face, missing all her teeth, and saying "Hi Rachael! It is so good to see you today! Your baby is beautiful!" I just laughed and said thank you! It is so good to see you too!
I have no idea who Rachael is, but I didn't care. She made my day. From that day on, I've noticed she is always smiling, and saying hello to everyone.

Today, she got up on the stand to bear her testimony. She shares her story of being brought up in the Baptist church, with strong church going parents. She continues with how she wanted to go to a church where she felt like it was her family. She was invited to come to the Mormon church and felt at home. She was baptized. She goes on to thank God for love she feels in the ward, the bishop, so on and so forth. Then comes my favorite part... and why I love the south... she says " Since I have been baptized, I have NEVER ONCE been sick!" Raising both arms in the air, "PRAISE THE LORD!" All I thought was awesome.That wasn't the last "praise the Lord" in her testimony. I love that Sister Brown is a strong Mormon women, but still has that spark of her southern Baptist raising. As she ends her testimony and heads off the podium, a random man in the congregation stands up, and loudly says, "I bet you didn't know, but Sister Brown goes to the Temple!" and then right there starts bearing his testimony in the middle of his row. I leaned over and whispered to Wayne, "is this appropriate?" He had no idea, and quite frankly I don't think anyone cared. It was again, awesome. Only in the south would you see something like this.

I love my ward. Praise the Lord!

Beach Day

Today was absolutely perfect. We woke up to 70 degree weather, which in our minds called for the beach. Called some friends, packed our suits, towels and sunblock, (for us whities) and off we were. We all couldn't agree more that there couldn't have been a better day. A nice cool breeze, barely anyone around, and just friends laying out. We even enjoyed a little kite flying time. I hadn't done that since I was a kid, and I am definitely a fan! Next time to Hobby Lobby I'm getting myself one!

I have loved having Wayne's brother's family live right next door to us here in Jacksonville. I never realized how much I love having family close by. I especially love to watch Sam and his cousin Malini play together. She is 6 months older, the same size as Sam, but totally bullies him around. We all know that in no time at all, Sam will get his revenge. In a couple months they no longer will live here, but are moving to California for Wes's new job. We are so excited for them, but will miss them!

Nap Time

For anyone who is a mother, KNOWS that staying at home with a child is not as easy as some would like to believe. I am constantly trying to figure out where my time goes, and before I know it, i'm in bed sound asleep. However, one of my favorite parts of everyday is indeed Sam;s Nap Time. I normally have 3 hours in a day to do as I please. What I do with that spare time varies. My mental process is normally struggling between.... Taking a nap... Cleaning... Showering and getting pretty.... Playing on the computer... Desperate housewives... Talking on the phone.... Projects....

Lately I've been trying to lean more towards projects because I feel EVERYONE needs a hobby. Here are just a few that I've done recently, except the chalkboard. I just never showed that when I did it a bit ago.

East Coast Road Trip

Hello Family and Friends,

Currently, Wayne is on break from school so we've been able to enjoy some relaxing time together before he has to go back. While on his break we decided to go on a small road trip to a few cities that friends have told us were "MUST SEES" We took their advice and headed North .

First on our list was Savannah Georgia.

Truly a beautiful Historical town. Loved the old southern homes,

the trees draping over all the streets, and the brick streets lined

with little vendors, and small shops. We enjoyed having some

southern cookin' at Paula Deen's restaurant. We both decided however

that our favorite part was the park we came across. It was surrounded

by old southern mansions, all kept in prestige condition. I think Wayne

and I found more than one dream home. If you're ever in Georgia, I would

definitely go see Savannah. Nothing like it.

Next on the list was Charleston South Carolina,

our favorite of the trip. I must say the day we go there it was EXTREMELY

HOT! But Wayne insisted on not letting a little sun spoil our trip. We

parked right next to Battery Park. It was a place to practice artillery during

the Civil War. Another historic site. We also went to market street where

the slaves would go to sell their owners crops everyday. Now it is used

to sell other things like jewelry, and woven baskets. The city in itself was

AMAZING! By far the most beautiful homes I have ever seen. The

backyards were unbelievable. As you will see in the pictures. I

especially loved Rainbow Row. A street where every home

is painted a bright color. I would tell the story behind it

but that would make this post way longer then it already is. I wouldn't

mind living there someday if it wasn't so hot and humid...

Last stop on our list, Hilton Head Island South Carolina.

A small island outside of Savannah. I wouldn't be one I returned

to, but we did enjoy our time while we were there. A hour after we

arrived we were on a boat tour looking for Dolphins. And yes, we

saw LOTS of them. We also went to the beach, and yet again, Sam

hated it. (We weren't there long) Lastly, we climbed the lighthouse

which really had a beautiful view. Sadly, none of those pictures turned out.

If you want to know more in detail about what we did then

you can call me... I find myself not wanting to write anymore of this

blog, but want to pay closer attention to Season 3 of Lost. Lame I know.

Family Reunion

Last month I was able to fly out to Utah for the Nordstrom Family reunion. We hadn't had a reunion in over a decade, and probably wont for another decade, so i decided it would probably be good for me to go. I thoroughly enjoyed the weather. Dealing with 85 degrees compared to 95 plus precipitation is heavenly. Sadly, I didn't even have my camera at our actual family reunion. My sisters are all amazing picture takers, so when I'm with them, I leave the picture taking alone. However, I did get a few snap shots... literally only a few. I'll be needing copies from my sisters... But here are the few I did get...

Overdue: Orlando Vacation

Last month we were able to take a family trip with Wayne's family to Orlando. You're never too old to go to Disney World. We were only able to stay for a couple of days since Wayne had school, but getting away was needed. Wayne also turned 29 while we were there! Old man if I must say so myself. I didn't get to put any pictures up for his actual birthday since we were traveling, but better late then never.

Okay so I haven't blogged in ages! So I'm going all the way back to April. I'll summarize a tad what we've been up to these past couple months...

Enjoyed Easter Sunday looking for Easter baskets. Sam was stoked as you can tell.
And it was BRIGHT outside. Only pic we got.

Packing up Wayne's moms house since she was moving into a new house. Wayne
went through some of his old boxes. Lets just say he found LOTS of baseball cards,
curfew tickets, AND

Yes, that is a puzzle of Natalie Portman in Star Wars. Apparently
Wayne had a thing for her... Lets just say this wasn't the only
framed picture of her I found.... awesome.

Not only did we pack up Hien, (waynes mom) but packed up ourselves and headed
on our new adventure. Florida! Thats Wayne driving our moving truck, and towing
his car. He enjoyed the 2300 miles with Otis our dog, and I enjoyed half the trip in
my car with Sam. I thankfully only had to drive to Dallas.

Sorry for how nasty I look. So Wayne continued the journey to Florida, and I stayed
a week with my sister Emily and her family. This picture was us stocking George Bush's
house/gate. It was intense! Cameras everywhere, and a nice black tinted window SUV keeping their eye
on us. They were a little skeptical on the two whiteys sticking their cameras on their car
and snapping some pics. Honestly, it was exhilarating! Ask Em.

Sam also started eating solids while we were there. Happy boy!

After Dallas, Sam and I flew to Spokane to spend a month with my other family members.
Here is sam with Uncle Zac. Zac was home for the summer on break from Law school,
It was so fun having him there.

We are moving here!

Wayne was accepted to the accelerated nursing program

at Jacksonville University and we couldn't be more

excited! Wayne and I have been to Jacksonville to visit

and knew we would love living there for a period of our lives.

It is absolutely beautiful, and 10 minutes from the beach.

Wayne and I have been married for 2 years now! We celebrated our anniversary on the 14th. It was the perfect day. Wayne started the day off by making me a delicious breakfast. We then enjoyed a nice morning of hanging out, watching a movie, and giving each other gifts.(pics of that soon to come) Then Wayne packed us a picnic and we headed to the park. Who could pass up 75 degree weather? Perfect right? We also did a little shopping. Later on we enjoyed the best meal ever! SUSHI! YUM! Something I haven't been able to eat much of since being pregnant, and having a child.

It was wonderful.

I love that I married my best friend. Over the last 5 years of knowing Wayne, I have grown to love him more and more. He is the most caring husband, father, and he makes me laugh constantly. However, the main reason that I am so madly in love with him, is simply, his heart is so good! I am constantly caught off guard by his small acts of kindness that come so natural.

Happy 2 year Anniversary Wayne. I love you!

So I've been slacking on posting these... a guess a baby keeps me a little busier than expected:) However, better late than never. Here is Samuel at 3 weeks so mind you, he is A LOT bigger now! This was so much fun! My AWESOME photographer Amber did such a great job. It was like playing dress up with a doll only WAY more fun. Sam was such a good sport about it. He was awake for half of it, asleep for the other half, so it worked out perfectly. Enjoy!

Here are a few pictures from Samuels baby blessing. It was absolutely wonderful. We decided to have it in our home so it would be a little more personal, plus my mom and dad were in town so I was SO GLAD they could be there as well.

Meet Samuel

Samuel Lee Hill

Most of you probably are well aware by now that Wayne and I added a new addition to our little family. Samuel Lee Hill joined us on December 20th at 1:53am. He was 6 lbs 5 ounces. We weren't expecting him for another 3 weeks! I was having some little signs of labor so we decided to head to the hospital just to make sure nothing too serious was going on.... and I was right, nothing TOO major, just was in labor! The back pains I was feeling weren't just the norm, but actual contractions, and my water had started to break. So when the nurse said, well you're going to have this baby today or tomorrow I started to panic a little. I hadn't finished my Christmas shopping, my mom wasn't here yet, and actually having a baby was a little different then just imagining one.

Anyhow, there was no turning back, whether I felt ready or not he was coming! Everything went smoothly from there on out. We went to the hospital around 2 in the afternoon and he was born about 12 hours later.

He is now two weeks old and we couldn't be more thrilled about the little guy. He is a great baby! His two favorite activities consist of eating, and sleeping.... thats about it. We love him and can't wait to watch him grow. More pictures and videos soon to come....

September 21st was my 23rd birthday. Honestly, the day was spent mostly at work. However, my sweet husband planned a nice dinner with our friends and family which was just perfect.

we are having a baby boy the beginning of January. We are

getting so excited! I wish he'd hurry up and get here!

Right now he is kicking like CRAZY! Usually at night when

In Remembrance of Wade Hill

August 28, 2006

Today has been one of those days where a thousands thoughts are running through my mind all at once. I don't know exactly the feeling I have today. Lately, life hasn't been so easy, and has been difficult to make some decisions. Wayne always says the same thing, I wish my dad was here, or, what would my dad have done in this situation. Like many know, I didn't know Wade very well, but I know the type of man he was by the way his children and wife speak of him. He was very honest, kind, generous, and most of all forgiving. Anyone who knew Wade, knew of these qualities. I know Wayne has always tried to be like his dad, but now more then ever.

Wade has 4 beautiful children, Wes, Heidi, Wayne, and Heather, two granddaughters, Olivia, and Malani, and soon to be a grandson. He also has his wife Hien who is still so madly in love with him. It truly makes you hope that your marriage is half as happy as theirs.

A few years ago I bought Wayne a Joseph Smith ring. For any of you that don't know, It has a black oval on the top that represents Eternity. Wayne seemed to love it right away, and never took it off, even though he insisted he wasn't a "ring" man. After a few months of him never taking it off, I asked him why he loved that ring so much. He told me, it reminds me of you, but mostly, it reminds me that I can see my dad again, and live with him for all eternity.

Wayne's 28th Birthday!

We celebrated Wayne's birthday on June 26th. Trying to decide what to do for his birthday has always been difficult for me since whenever wayne plans a birthday for me, it's so elabrate and well thought out. I used to think I was creative, but have been clearly mistaken. This year I took a different approach. Instead of trying to plan some amazing day that I would love, and thought Wayne would love, I decided to just plan one day where we did EVERYTHING Wayne enjoys, despite how I feel.... here a few of the activities his day consisted of...

Getting up at 5:30 AM to go golfing.

Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband Wayne!!! Today he is 28. This is our 4th birthday spending together.... actually 3, one I was in china, but 4th being together. I am so happy to be married to the most amazing man ever! i don't know how I was so lucky to find him but I did! Not only is he the most wonderful husband, but I know will be a GREAT father which he soon will be.

Yes we are expecting our first baby January 7th. We are very excited! Although I am constantly tired, and have no type of appetite, I feel this pregnancy has been quite easy! I am 12 weeks so we felt it was safe to start telling people!

Wayne and I were able to go to Maui, Hawaii for a week with his family a few weeks ago. Every day for a week we enjoyed new adventures.... here were a few of the MANY pictures I took. Crazy Day at Work

I only have a week left of work. As the year comes to an end the kids are becoming more loud, rude, and disobedient. I guess this is a normal routine through out the years because spring fever is in the air. Even I am beginning not to care as much. However, yesterday took me for a turn that I was NOT expecting. Every day I take the students down to the lunch room to get their lunches. We eat alone. No other students are there except our class. We eat after first lunch, and before second. We share our time only with the lunch ladies. We were having a generally normal lunch when all of a sudden I heard screaming coming toward us. As I looked up from my seat I saw a women probably in her 30's approaching our table. She yelled at one of the students to get up shes taking her home. The student goes over to the other side of the cafeteria where a man was standing.

Now this women was not your typical 30 year old. She really was hopped up on something. Meth is my guess. I don't think she saw me since I was sitting at the table with the rest of the students. All of a sudden she started throwing out the "F" word to all the kids. "You better "f" leave (students name) alone, or I'll "F" mess you up!" All the students were dead quiet. Even I was in complete shock! As soon as I stood up I could tell she was in shock herself that a teacher was there. I ask her, who she was. She informed me she was (students name) aunt. I told her that she had no right to be here, and especially no right to use that kind of language. She started yelling at me, that this (f) kids pick on (students name) and that shes had enough of it. I inform her that if that is true, this is not the place, nor the way to be handling it and she needs to leave IMMEDIATELY or I would call the cops. She left.

After she left, the students couldn't stop informing me that they thought she was going to punch me! "What would you have done!" I just laughed and said "that's what my pepper spray is for." They all know I carrying pepper spray on me. My husband wanted to get me a little gun, I rejected, so this was its replacement.

Anyhow, conclusion of this story, she is getting in trouble, she denied the whole thing, and no one wonders now why this certain student acts the way she does..... Shes known for acting out, cussing, yelling, everything you can think of. Great example shes got. Also turns out she was just a family friend, not an aunt... liar.

Now I know this student gets picked on. Every student in this class gets picked on. It is their way of covering up the hurt they feel inside. I just don't think this women realized what type of class Summit is. Angel children do not exist here. No sirree

Graduation!

So I officially am a college graduate!!! I graduated from Utah Valley University with my bachelors in Behavioral Science, and Social Work. Getting my degree seemed to take forever since I transfered to 3 different schools, and lived in China for a while. However, each experience was worth it, and I'm glad I ended up where I did. Now it is time to move on to bigger and greater things! I am sad about being done with school. I can honestly admit that I am one who LOVED school. It was probably the fact that I enjoyed what I was learning, and made great friends with my professors and classmates. It wasn't until this school where I realized that I am VERY opinionated. I loved to speak my mind in class. Luckily for me, my teachers liked that. I also learned that I am passionate about the mental field, and want to go further in school to become a therapist. A masters would be ideal, so we'll see when that happens.

I want to say thank you to my parents. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't have been where I am. They always supported me through school which kept me almost a stress free student.

I also want to thank my wonderful husband. When I met him I wasn't planning on studying social work because I had been told by some people that therapy would be too difficult for me. Even though it was my dream, I listened to them. It was Wayne that pointed out how retarded I was for listening to them! He insisted that I go into this field because it was what I was meant to do. Now I know he was right. Thank you Wayne. I love you!

I officially have a month left of my job. If you didn't know, Wayne and I are moving to St. George so we both have to leave our jobs. Honestly, I am sad to go just because I will miss not knowing what is going on in these kids lives. Granted, they are mean little devil children, but I love them. Today they had a writing assignment, "Who loves me" A simple paper really, and a way for them to think about the positive sides of their lives. We have a new kid whos name I will call ah.... Bob. Bob came from a reservation. He is only 12 years old. A couple years ago, his parents abandoned him. THey just got up and left. I couldn't imagine being 10 or so and having NO ONE there for me. Anyway, he lived on his own for a couple years, got into drugs, and alcohol. Back to this paper.... every paper I read was actually great. They all discussed how their parents, grandparents, siblings, and pets loved them. When I came across "Bob's" paper I heart just dropped.
"Nobody loves me. Because I am so flippin stupid, ugly troblesome. I am a big time lier, I steal, smoke, drink. I'm Retarded."

Now i know I dont know everything but "Bob" but for him to believe that no one loves him breaks my heart. Deep down I hate his parents for walking out on their child, leaving him with nothing, and leaving him with the the thought he isn't loved. I know I write these depressing blogs sometimes but it's only because I feel we are sometimes too hard on ourselves, and we need to be better at showing our love for each other.

I LOVE that I have been married for over a year now, and a day has not gone by where Wayne has not said those three words. Even if I'm a pain in the butt, grumpy, selfish, emotional wreck!!! He still says, I Love you! Anyway, theres my two sense for the day.

On a brighter note, last night was my LAST CLASS!!!! WOO HOO! I walk next friday! Can't believe it!

This Easter Wayne and I enjoyed a wonderful weekend in St. George. It was absolutely beautiful!!! Saturday we enjoyed going to an art festival. It reminded me of a small little town get together. I loved it! Beautiful paintings, jewelry, and all sorts of random EXPENSIVE gimmicks. We also loved listening to the old folk country music, and at the eating greasy vendors.

I unfortunately didn't get any photos of our actual Easter morning. But it went a little something like this... Wayne and I hid our Easter baskets for each other. I was more then THRILLED by my Return to the Blue lagoon DVD. I was incredibly obsessed with that movie growing up, and secretly prayed I would be stranded on a tropical island with a beautiful boy.... the dream hasn't come true yet. But maybe Wayne and I will be able to make that happen:) Later that day we enjoyed a great dinner with Wayne's family, and a couple of our friends. It was perfect. So Happy Easter Everyone!!!

This weekend was absolutely FABULOUS! My wonderful husband planned a wonderful anniversary surprise. Our anniversary was on Sunday, but we decided to celebrate it on Saturday.

Saturday: Normal activities. Wayne wakes up early to go play rugby, and then we go to Costco for a hot dog, and samples.... cheap lunch! You gotta love it. Then around 2:00 wayne tells me he has to go run some errands for a couple of hours. Of course i'm distraught! I tell him how he should have done his errands forever ago, and to leave it to our anniversary day is so selfish. He just kinda smiles, and says he's sorry but he needs to go for a couple of hours. I'm SUPER tired so i take a hour nap. I wake up and call him to say i;'m going to the grocery store to buy some milk. He says, "Hey can you drop by this place for me. It's on the left of TJ Maxx." So i agree. When I show up i'm at a nail salon. I call wayne. "Wayne! I don't want my nails done! I want to hang out with you!" Once again he laugh, tells me to just tell them my name and they'll take care of me, and then call him after.

I go in and they know exactly what I like. After getting my nails done, and actually being pretty happy to have pretty acrylics then months old chipped red nail polish, I call wayne who tells me to head on home. When I open the door, I find all the lights off, except for candle light, music playing, and my cute husband standing by our kitchen table, with dinner prepared.

Everything starts making sense! He had to get me out of the house so he could make me dinner.... he's a sly one. I was being such a baby when all he wanted to do was the one thing he NEVER DOES! COOK! It was so beautiful. We enjoyed crab, New York steak, potatoes, green beans, yummy rosemary bread, and sparkling cider. All so good. Then during our dinner, he asked me to dance. haha. I loved it! Normally I would like to go to some nice restaurant, but for some reason, this will be way more rememberable. Plus, it took way more thought. He also surprised me with beautiful roses, and a cute note... if any of you watch the Modern Family, you'll understand why it's so awesome. we also enjoyed our wedding cake. Thank you Hien for storing it for us! It was YUMMY!

We did more, but this why the main event, and it was perfect. I have an amazing husband, and can't believe we've been married a year, an AWESOME year! Love you WAYNE!

Wayne and I were married on March 14th 2009, in the Saint George Temple. We have truly enjoyed our first year of marriage. Everyone says the first year is the hardest.... if that is true, then our life is going to be CAKE! (Our first year was not hard whatsoever) Marrying my best friend was BY FAR the best choice i've ever made. ( I think he agrees....) I decided to make a little slide show of our past year. Its been two YEARS since I was in China! I can't even believe it! It has gone by so fast. Recently, one of my students sent these pictures to me of my last day with their class. They bring back so many amazing memories. I thought I'd share some of them with you. I know they are SUPER random! Anyway, other BIG BIG news!!!!! Wayne and I are Going to INDIA!!!! Woo hoo! We leave August 4th. We just want to travel before we start school again, and before we make some babies. Plus, India has always been on my top choices of places I want to see! Anyone that really KNOWS Wayne, knows his obsession with soft pretzels. Anytime I am going to the mall, he is delighted to go just so he can make a quick stop to Pretzel time, or Auntie Anne's. However, its atrocious how much a small pretzel can get! So Wayne asked if I would help him figure out how to make our own homemade Pretzels. They were actually decent, and something we would make again! Here are a few pics from our little adventure.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!

Wayne and I enjoyed a wonderful weekend enjoying Valentines Day! Friday night Wayne surprised me with snow boarding, which was SO MUCH FUN! On Saturday, we ran some errands, ate some costco lunch, and i tried making a Rachel Ray chocolate cake, that DID NOT work out! I must admit I was disappointed, and emotional about it. Usually when I attempt new recipes, they are AT LEAST edible. I will try again next weekend.
Last night Wayne took me to an AMAZING Resturant called the Metropolitan. It was very fancy, and so fun. I enjoyed the Veal Chops with an apricot glaze on top. Wayne had the Bison Steak. We both tried something a little different, and both were delectiable. If anyone is looking for an elegant bite to eat, with a more modernized articutre enviornent, I HIGHLY suggest this place. After dinner, we enjoyed sharing a malt at leatherbee's, and then headed to the movie Valentine's Day. Which I must point out, was very disappointed, and don't recommend. The only funny parts of the whole movie, consisted of Taylor Swift. Now I must say she can't act, but is pretty funny, and awkward! So that was the good part.
Finally Sunday, actual valentine's day. Wayne and I had the privilege of teaching a 4-5 year old primary class. So hilarious! This one kid Logan was crazy. We asked him to say the opening prayer..... it went a little something like this..... "Dear heavenly father.... bless mom and dad..... bla bla bla.... (In a very ANGRY tone) SHUT YOUR EYES!... bla bla bla amen." it was awesome. For the closing prayer we asked a little girl to pray, even though Logan once again wanted to prayer. In the middle of her prayer, we hear Logan start in with a, "Dear Heavenly father...." I had to shush him and remind him, it wasn't his turn. Sorry if it's offensive to repeat prayers on blogs, but i must say it was too funny to leave out! Wayne and I were trying to hold back from laughing the whole time. It was so much fun though. We have to teach next weekend too, so we'll see what excitement we get then as well.
After church I made Wayne his favorite meal, and then we enjoyed having our friends over for a little game, homemade salsa, and movie. It was actually perfect, and we truly enjoyed our first married Valentines Together. Oh yes, and I must add my valentine's Card Wayne made for me.... He was very proud of it... If you don't get it, the heart is a monster.... and monsters munch.... Yeah he had to explain it to me too. But he's cute. And i love it! Anyway, HAPPY VALENTINE"S DAY! WOO HOO

So today something interesting happened.... well not interesting, more humiliating! I have known Wayne for about 4 years now, and have NEVER noticed this. Today we were at church and we were sitting on the outside of th aisle since we had to say the prayers. As I hand Wayne the tray of bread he reaches OVER the middle handle , down to the bottom and picks out the BIGGEST and softest piece of bread! Okay so call me crazy, but i thought that you're supposed to grab the closest piece of bread, no matter the size or how much crust. I guess I was wrong to think everyone believed that. When I gave Wayne the "ARE YOU KIDDING ME LOOK!" He just smiles and says, What? I take the first piece I make eye contact with. Which probably means the biggest, and middle piece. I would understand that my someday children would do this act, since every child does, but never expected my 27 year old husband to. haha. I love him, but this is one thing thats got to go! Has anyone else dealt with their spouses doing these childish acts? If so, what was the act, and how did you break it?

The Desert Flower

Out beneath the blistering desert sun a plant grows.

Though many shun this plant, it has a very special secret.

Many never find the secret because they're afraid they'll

get pricked and so they turn away.

But, among the needles and pins of the cactus a blossom grows.

This flower is very unique as it blooms only a few times a year. The colors vary from scarlet red to violet.

The honeybees go mad on her wine. They stay within her flowery petals sucking nectar until their hunger is satisfied.

Thus many people in life are like the cactus. Because of their

   surroundings they protect themselves with shyness, vanity, or pride. But,
   underneath, they hide a special sweetness.

   May we not turn way our hearts from them because we just see thorns,
   but rather be like the honeybee, which was able to look past the thorns and see the flower.

This was written by a high school student that had been through foster care, therapy, and multiple families. This was her message she wanted to share with people. Although it is not the most well done poem I have ever heard, I feel it sends out a certain message we all should remember. Working with my students, I see other students, teachers, and other faculty members only staring at their thorns. If only they knew what truly existed.

One of my New years resolutions this year is to look for only the good in people, no matter how they treat me, or others. There is good in everyone, and we all have a "flower" to show. (this is probably corny for some, but it means something to me.... so think about it)

During our Christmas Break, Emily and Abby came to visit us in St. George. I was so excited to meet Paige for the first time. And of course always excited to see hilarious Thomas. We had so much fun. We just enjoyed just talking, and watching the babies. We enjoyed a nice meal at Outback steakhouse, and Coldstone ice cream. Thanks Hien! (Sorry Dave you got sick.... but just so you know, we ALL ended up getting sick.... I think it was the flu, not the food...) They weren't able to stay for very long since they had to get back to their own in laws, but we were able to get a few good pics. Enjoy!

Christmas Break

Wayne and I went to St. George for our Christmas break this year. This was my first Christmas away from home, so as most could probably guess, I was missing my family. Christmas eve we enjoyed a wonderful dinner of steak kabobs, and some Vietnamese sides. On Christmas morning Wayne's mom was at church, so we enjoyed our morning together alone. We opened our gifts, and then had breakfast shortly after Hien came home, and Wayne's sister came over. The rest of the day was hanging out, playing games, and snacking. It was a nice quiet Christmas day that we enjoyed very much. Hope everyone else had a Merry Christmas!
Also, during our trip to St. George, we did a little horseback riding, went to some amazing movies, and enjoyed visiting some friends. We headed down to Vegas for New years eve, went shopping, hung out with Abby, and Dave's Family, and went to a quiet couples party. There we enjoyed playing a little Wii, American Idol. Not to brag or anything, but I was the New American Idol for year 2010! Woo hoo! We sipped on sparking cidar, and made cheers as we watched the fireworks that were shot of on the strip. It was a perfect view, and a lot better then actually being on the strip and dealing with thousands of people. It was a low key night, but absolutely perfect!
We thoroughly enjoyed our break in St. George. The best part however, was when my sisters came to visit.... More to come on that....

This was Waynes and my first thanksgiving married together, and I have to say that it was absolutley WONDERFUL! It was so fun, and one we will never forget. We enjoyed our holiday in Denver with our two close friends, Josh and Emily. We stayed in a cute hotel right down town. Our first night there, we enjoyed walking downtown looking at all the shops. We also enjoyed eating at The Cheesecake Factory. ALWAYS a delicious choice. We then went back, played some liverpool rummy, and watched hilarious Youtube Videos. The next morning when we woke up Wayne and Josh were so GIDDY.... actually Emily too. Josh said he didn't sleep at all that night because he was so Excited for the football game. Oh yes an important factor. That is why we went to denver. Wayne is a HUGE New York Giants fan, and Josh, a Broncos fan. That explains the Giddiness. However, it was Thanksgiving day and we still needed to eat some turkey. we took the liberty of heading down to good old, Golden Corral! All you can eat buffet. I must admitt I was a little scetchy on the idea. I am a great believer of a well cooked, Thanksgiving meal. I feel I was raised to hate buffets or something.... but I must say, it was GOOD! haha. They had everything I would have eaten anyway. Even though there were hundreds of other people there as well, we still went around the table saying what we were thankful for. It really was wonderful. I was just happy that I got to share it with my Husband, and great friends.

The game was so much fun.... for the most part. We enjoyed eating cheesy, expensive nachos, stiff hot dogs, terrible breath! (drunk guys next to me) and watching the GIANTS lose. I tried to cheer Wayne up but it didn't seem to do any good. All those things anyway seemed to make the trip more memerable, and I loved it!

It really was a blast, and would totally go again. Sadly our Giants lost to the Broncos, 6-26
Maybe next time, all we can ask for is a closer game, but besides that PERFECT! It was so fun! I loved my first thanksgiving! Thanks Wayne, Josh, and Emily for putting it all together. You guys ROCK!

I Love Sushi!

This weekend I went to my friend Jane bachelorette party. She is soon to be married to my best friend Justin Cooper. Unfortunitly I am unable to go to their wedding for wayne and I will be in Denver watching Giants vs. Broncos game. To many this may seem selfish to choose a football game over a friends wedding... but the tickets/hotels/traveling plans were made months ago, and I would regret not spending my first thanksgiving married with my husband. So on Thanksgiving, when you are all enjoying your turkey, stuffing, yams, roles, and pumpkin pie, you can think of how we are in the freezing cold, cheering our Giants on! Anyway, last night we went to Happy Sumo, a quaint little sushi bar that is absolutly AMAZING! We enjoyed watching Jane open her lingerie, and other exciting little trinkets. It is always fun to get away for a girls night.

Today: Wayne and I went to a coworkers suprise party at I Love Sushi. Once again amazing, and ironic to eat sushi two nights in a row. I never eat sushi since my husband gags at the thought of fish...... I LOVE FISH! one of our small dilemmas. However, if thats the only problem in our marriage... I will settle:) Oh but I must say I was proud of Wayne tonight, he did eat some shrimp, and crab that was in my sushi roll tonight.... WAY TO GO WAYNE!

Happy Late Halloween everyone! We had a wonderful halloween weekend. We Started off our Friday night by having our friend's Todd and Jenny come over. We went and enjoyed some Sweet Home Chicago Pizza, then we stopped by a cute pumpkin patch by our house and picked us up some pumpkins. Later that night we enjoyed carving them, watching a scary movie, (The Grudge) and eating popcorn. That was the first scary movie I have seen in a year, and it didn't do to well for me, especially cause Wayne fell asleep on the floor, and left me on the couch ALONE! But besides that, a perfect night!

On Saturday, Halloween day, we enjoyed catching up on some household duties, running errands, and getting some lunch. We unfortunately don't have a front door, or Children, so we didn't have much to contribute to this festive holiday. To make up for our shortcomings, we decided to dress Otis up in last years cowboy outfit, and take him walking around the neighborhood. We saw many children from our ward, and they all seemed to love Otis the cowboy. We then headed up to Wayne's uncles to pass out some candy, and just enjoy talking. I always get excited to pass out candy since growing up we never got too.... but I do remember whoever did come to our house was in for a large candy bar treat. Anyway, thats was the extent of our night. A very relaxing Halloween day. Our first together married. We enjoyed it, and hope everyone else enjoyed theirs as well. Looking forward to hearing about them!

So i've totally been slacking on my blog updates.... I will be writing a lot more this weekend when I have more spare time, but I just wanted to quickly post this for a little amusement. It made me laugh, and at the same time proves just how real it is.......

Now I don't know how true this quote is... but I do know it sure stands today, just look at my students! They are awesome though, and I love them. Oh and I thought I'd throw in this picture of us and our tie dye shirts we made... Pretty Sweet huh? Just a fun little art project we did. Anyway, more updates on our lives soon to come!

Happy Birthday Wade Hill!

Today is Wayne's dad's birthday. Wade Hill would be turning 67 today. He is remembered by many. Although I did not have the privilege of really knowing Wade, I have seen in the eyes of his wife Hien, his 4 children, and many others, that he was a man with pure integrity. He showed love to everyone he knew, and was a wonderful father and husband. I love hearing stories of Wade, and seeing what an example he has made on Wayne. Although Wayne doesn't believe it, Wayne is becoming more and more like his dad everyday. I am so grateful that Wayne was raised by such loving parents. Thank you Wade! Happy Birthday! We miss you! and Love you so much!

Today is another birthday as well! Otis! Otis is now 28 years old in dog years, which means he's the oldest in the family. I declared him the man of the house today.... Happy Birthday Otis!

Birthday Weekend!

On monday I turned 22! Wow I am getting so old... haha. However, Wayne had Work and school till 9pm so we celebrated my birthday the weekend before. On thursday night wayne asked if I was packed. I was like Packed? For what? And he said we would be leaving Friday around 2 so make sure I had a swim suit and comfortable shoes. I wasn't allowed to know where we were going, but I am really excited! Wayne didn't know, but all i wanted was a weekend away. Friday we drove for 31/2 hours to a small one horse town. It was called Bryce Town. We were going to Bryce Canyon! I had always wanted to go. we first checked into our awesome hotel. It was brand new, so classy and absolutly perfect. It was off season so there was no one there. We walked around the little town looking at the shops, and went to a fabulous bbq buffet. Such good food! I definitly recommend it to everyone. We then went back to our hotel, and went hot tubbing. It was perfect. It was pretty chilly outside so it made it so fun. It really was the perfect night. The next day we woke up ate a wonderful breakfast and went up to the Bryce. I couldn't believe how unbelievable it was! I'd never seen anything like it. Wayne and I enjoyed walking around taking pictures, and noticing how we were the youngest people there! We finally had to get back home so we stopped in a small town ate some lunch and were on our way. I love being married to Wayne because he always is planning such fun things for us to do. He is the BEST! I LOVE YOU WAYNE HILL! Thanks for the wonderful birthday!

A little update on our current lives.... Wayne and I have been SUPER busy lately. Our days consist of work and school. Asleep by 10pm and up by 6am. Weekends we just want to relax and clean the apartment. I now feel like a true old married couple, just missing the kids. I have been really enjoying my new job as a teachers assistant. I work with high risk junior high students that are currently into gangs, drugs, and everything else you can imagine. Although this may scare some people to work with these kinds of kids, I for one love it! They are all 13, 14 years olds, stuck in foster homes, and have had horrible upbringings. They view life as a dead end and don't really think about a future. They should be in 8th grade, but some can't even read, let alone TRY to read. Everyday at lunch they tell me all their reasons for going to "DT" which is jail for kids. One kid tried killing his grandpa cause he was abusing his wife. That same kid bit the crap out of a cop for taking his mom away for drugs. One of my favorite girls, we call her princess because she really is such a sweetheart, she is only 13 years old and says next year she wants to have a baby with her boyfriend bo bo. Bo bo is in a gang and they aren't allowed to see each other. I later found out that in her entire history of family, everyone women had a child BEFORE they were 14 years old. They took her out and put her in foster care to help break the cycle. Hopefully it will work and her plan for next year will vanish. Before I started, the teacher i assist told me to be careful, these kids don't have real mothers and will attach themselves to me. I have already noticed them doing so. They are so sweet to me, joke around with me, and always want to hear about my current, and past life. To many people these children are dangerous, and should be locked up. To me they are sweet, smart children, just in need of someone who truly cares. Having a job like this shows me how wonderful my life is. I could have been placed in a home with parents who were abusive, addicted to drugs, and didn't care about me. Instead, I was placed with parents that show more love then a child could ask for. Thanks mom and dad. You are amazing. There may not be hope for the children I work with, but I can't do my part and teach them that their is more out there, and that they don't have to live in hell forever. Well, theres a little update on my job. More stories to come!

Arizona Trip

First off, I want to say CONGRATULATIONS to ABBY and DAVE to their new addition, Paige Abigail Thuet! We are thinking of you, and you are in our prayers!

Wayne and I were able to take a small trip to Arizona before we both went back to school. I had never been there before, and Wayne was dying to show me his ideal future place to live. (Flagstaff) We headed out on Thursday starting off with Wayne getting a speeding ticket.... he wasn't too happy in the beginning. We drove past Colorado city. Home of polygamy. I had never seen it before, and was so surprised at how UGLY it was! No one had finished houses... and the yards were just dirt. Anyway, it was just interesting, and definitely not my way of living. We continued driving, singing songs, and playing games It seemed every city we drove through Wayne had a friend he would like to stop by and see. He has too many friends to count. 4 hours later we were in Flagstaff where we enjoyed an AMAZING lunch at the Salsa Brava. One of the best mexican restaurants I've been to. If you go, TRY IT! But don't worry Nordstrom family, Rancho still has my heart. I did think Flagstaff was beautiful. Very green, mountains, just like Spokane. But we'll see about living there some day. We continued on to Phoenix to stay with our friends Sam and Amy and their cute little boy Landon. They just bought a beautiful house, and it made me ready to own a home of my own. I'm afraid that wont be for a while however. We drove around looking at the Arizona State University campus, which I loved, and also walked around the Mesa temple. Very beautiful as well, just like the Hawaii Temple. We enjoyed having dinner at a little burger joint called Joe's Farm House Grill. Also an amazing choice of food! Recommend as well! The restaurant is on the farm plantation where they grow all their own fresh produce. Plus, the atmosphere was enjoyable, and perfect weather outside. The next day we enjoyed lunch and took off to Tuscan to see my sister and her little family. Tuscan was interesting. One, it's right on the Mexican border, and it truly felt like we were in Mexico. The further we went into the city, the better it got. Where my sister lives, it was actually a cute city. We enjoyed seeing Emily, Greg, and baby Thomas. Greg and Wayne enjoyed playing video games, since they never get to besides these special occasions. We went to Trail Dust Town, which was a fun little western town with lots of little shops, food, candy, and a stunt show. It was very enjoyable. We ate delicious Gelato, at a place called Frost. This explains the picture of Emily and her dark lip liner. She didnt realize she had it the whole time. We thought she looked like a middle school gangster. (So in right now) The next day we did so much! We went to Tubac which is a little artsy town. Small small town. We had awesome mexican food, and looked at the art shops. We stopped by an old catholic church, San Xavier's, which actually freaked me out and everyone else! It was interesting to see the line of people outside the confession door. Emily wanted to ask them what they did.... that could have been interesting. We then went to the Desert museum. That was so much fun! Not at all what i expected. It was more of a zoo, with Spiders, Mountain Lions,Wolves, and all sorts of creatures. I was enthralled by the cactus personally. I'd seen them in movies, but never in real life. So big! Later that night we watched 17 again. If you haven't seen it, SEE IT! It really is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Plus, you fall in love with Zac Efron. That was pretty much it for Tuscan. It was a short stay, but definitly an enjoyable one. It was so fun to stay with Emilys family, and play with little Thomas. We stopped in Vegas and then drove all the way home to Salt Lake. We enjoyed playing more car games, and watching the beautiful sunset. Our trip was wonderful, and a nice break away from our busy lives. We are so lucky to travel as much as we do. We are now home, and will be starting school soon. I started my new job as a teachers assistant on tuesday and will let you know how that goes later on....
