So that blog was one i had written I while ago but just never got to post it because my internet wouldn't let me! So heres some new updates. I leave china in about 3 weeks! I can't even believe how fast it went by. I feel like i've been here a month only and I feel so sad. I love china so much. I've been saying goodbye to my students already because this next week is my last week and it really has been so hard. i have cried in too many of my classes already. Here are some things I will miss most about china....
Getting text messages from students that don't know my name. For example : Hey Molky, hey mooly, mollym, moldy, Moonly, morry, mofy. You would think my name is the one thing they could remember oh and then there is the hey teacher. Thats when you really know they don't know my name!
I will also miss calling out my students names in class, especially these.... Pickle, bucket, Bloria, Sofield, Graker, wind, Nabeel, White, Dumpling, Snill, Star, Hall, Shetty, Happy, Mort, Dala, Lox, Set'n, Slender, Kane, Solar, Candy, Toyota, Andy wei, Snoopy, Talent, Blue, Co co, Lu lu, moon, cougar, Scorpio, Felix Green, Rusher, Ka ka, Yori, Una, Echo, Soul, Heart, Nye, Dear, Honey, Yuki, Nimo, Black,Dive, my all time favorite... Silly Cow ... and so many more. How many people do you know with these names!
Even though this may seem crazy but I will have to admit to missing trying crazy food! It makes my life way more interesting. Here is a small list of some chinese food i've tried....
-Pig intestints
-scorpions
-Lamb Blood in a jello type substance
-Sparrow I even ate its head! (sorry mom)
-Bee's
-Huge Beetles!
-Chicken Feet
-Chicken Balls
-Chicken everything!
-Cow tongue
-Crab, every part of the crab. Shell and all!
-Some huge artery from the heart! SO SICK
-hm... i know theres more. I just can't think of them all right now.
-The old men and Women
-Men walking down the street with there shirts pulled up and bellies hanging out... oh and their finger always in their bellybuttons! GROSS! Maybe i wont miss that!

-Hearing beautiful everywhere you go!

-Baby Butts
-Long short dogs..... thats all that exist in china.
-Signs that make absolutley no sense at all

-Chinese people saying "Nage" every other word. Nage sounds like Niga if you didn't know. And i know if i have need to make my class laugh i can just throw a little nage in there...
-Random questions asked in class. "Can you explain what the word Yard Sale is" "Nage is a bad word in china? Don't you mean Nigger?" Ah who teaches them this!
-Fresh fruit every where on the street... picked that day.
-Taking pictures for one person but then that being the "okay" for everyone else to hurry and take a picture with you.
-Students wishing more then anything that they could travel with you but having no money.
-Teaching my students stupid words just to be funny! Like Thuper Duper.... one of my students actually used that in one of his english speeches for his chinese teacher. He was very disappointed she didn't understand what he meant.
-How honest my students are... "we look at americans as animals.... you're a lot fatter then chinese people.... wow! You have big ears!.... you must be full now, i can see your stomach!.... You are so strong! I want to be strong like you! (boy saying that as he grabs my fatty arms!)
-Hearing my students speak with their british words... "Thats a pitty.... my boyfriend and I had a coral today....
-Watching everyone on their bikes. usually 2 to a bike. Then when Whitnie and I try it FAIL! They have amazing balance! Or we are just two big girls!
-Falling everytime I am with my students. I seriously think I have over a dozen scars on my knees and feet. I have become the biggest clutz since i have been here!
-Walking anywhere in Linyi and finding Hundreds of basketball players. They live for basketball!
-Chinese music.... so meaningful and romantic.
-Chinese music.... so meaningful and romantic.
-The love that lovers have here. Most fall in love with only one person their whole lives and are so happy with that.
-The countryside. All the farmers working on their small piece of land.
-Women washing their clothes in the river
-Farmers wearing their BIG hexagon pointy hats
-Linyi's HUGE rain storms. Love them!
-Traveling to other big cities but always wanting to come back to Linyi. Home sweet Home.
-Having 10 girls all living next door to me and all of us getting along so perfectly!
-My morning breakfast... same two couple to make my egg with peppers, and the women right next door with my favorite hot peanut soy milk. Tasty treat to start my day.
-Having a 10 minute ride to school turning into a 30 minute drive because the taxi driver only wants to watch you and not the road... and continually trying to talk to me in chinese. All i can say in Tin budong. Which means I don't understand. So instead of stopping they try to keep talking just hoping that I will instantly learn chinese.
-My students, my students, my students! LOVE MY STUDENTS!

Finally I have updated my blog! I am so sorry it has taken so long but the truth is I just have so much to write that I never know where to begin! So here it is….
I am loving China so much! More then I ever imagined I would. It is so tempting for me to just forget about my life in America and just stay in china to teach! I wish that everyone had the opportunity to experience teaching in china as I have. Well, everyday is a little different here but I have become more and more accustomed to the life style. I have my students to thank for that. I was nervous at first to give my phone number out to my students but I realized it was the best thing I could have done because not only they invite me to come play with them, but also our relationships are so much stronger. I truly feel that they want to learn from me more when they think of me as a friend rather then their teacher. And I love them all so much!
Since I have been in china I have enjoyed many small adventures during the weekends all over the Shandong province, and around Shandong. Here are a few stories of my weekend away from Linyi.
Qufu- Qufu is one of the oldest cities in china. It is the city where the Confucius himself lived. If you didn’t know Confucius is a very famous man in china known for him thoughts. Many people think of Confucius as an actual religion because they believe in him so much. We attended his temple, his tomb, and all of his descendant’s tombs, and many more beautiful sites. Even though the temples, and tombs were beautiful, one of my favorite memories was when Whitnie and I forgot our Id’s back at our hostel and so instead of running back to get them our friend/student Jerry let us borrow his dads electic bicycle. We always seen the people on their bicycles riding with two people but we wer
e always so amused by how brilliant they were for having such amazing balance! Whitnie and I are not even close to being the size of the Chinese people here so the thought of one of us riding the bike and the other holding onto the back seemed more then impossible. But we indeed tried. So first whitnie started riding the bike and I was holding on to the back as we were riding down the busy road! Of course we were screaming! We were pretty sure that today was the last day we were going to live…… maybe that was my thought…. We were so horrible. The bike was jiggling the entire time and all the Chinese people were laughing at us. I’m actually surprised we didn’t break the bike. Thankfully we made it safely to the hostel. On the way back I rode the bike and again was screaming the entire time. We were laughing so hard and enjoyed ourselves very much. We LOVED it! Another funny memory I have was while we were in the Confucius temple there was this little old man following us, so towards the end of the of the temple I walked up to him and told him I wanted a picture. He got very excited! He stood there ready for the picture and as someone was taking a picture he pulled out this huge smile! Or you can say half a smile! Whatever it was it made my day! And I’m pretty sure I made his. It suprises me just how much they love to take pictures with us. But I’ve learned if I agree to take one picture with someone I better be prepared to have a line of people waiting for their turn. Sometimes it makes me laugh, other times it’s kind of annoying.
Tai Shan- Tai Shan is the largest mountain in the Shandong Province and the most popular mountain to climb. It is in the small city of Tian. We had a plan to climb this huge mountain. Thousands and thousands of years ago the people would carry their emperor up this mountain and so we thought, hey if they can do it we can do it. The mountain was not AT ALL what we thought! I was seriously the most difficult workout I have ever had. Maybe it was because I hadn’t eaten any food for a few days so my energy level was ZERO! But I do remember someone saying to me, “ I could never carry my emperor up this mountain, and be happy about it!!” And I agreed for a second but then I thought… if God wanted me to carry him up this mountain then I would be… Anyway so there was about 15 of us who were climbing the mountain and when we reached the middle mark the rest decided that they couldn’t make it the rest of the way, so they took a tram to the very top. The other five of us however felt determined to climb. However it was very cold and we knew we would be hiking until maybe 3 in the morning. So we found a little hotel on the mountain that we could stay in. We really wanted to see the sunrise at around 5:30 so we knew we would have to sleep by 9 o
r so and then wake up at 2 and start hiking again. We got a good deal on a hotel for about 30 each. There were about 10 bunk beds in this one room and as we were all in our warmest close and finally falling asleep the door to our room opens, the light turns on and this loud LOUD Chinese women is talking to this man and this women about two beds they can stay in. Then the women leaves and doesn’t turn off the light. Ah I was so frustrated and so exhausted. Then our friend Marni turned the light off but from the corner of my eye I could see the other Chinese women standing at my bedside just staring at me. I wanted to turn to her and be like WHAT! What are you looking at! Just let me sleep. So she finally climbs on the bunk above me and the man climbed up on his bunk. So when I thought all… 5 mins had passed. I literally mean 5 minutes! The man on the bunk bed starts snoring! No just this weak wheezing noise like he was stuffed up, oh no like full on dad snoring! I could NOT believe it! No one else could either. Except Whitnie… I don’t know how but she slept through EVERYTHING! Anyway no one slept that night… but whit. We were all so tired but laughing at the same time. Especially because our Chinese friend Jerry would get so angry that he would start poking above him at the Chinese mans bed. Then he would sit and stare out the window. But then haha he started to smack the window. We were all dying laughing. All he wanted was to wake the man up but it never worked. So instead of sleeping that night we just laughed. At 2:00 am the alarm went off and we all put our huge pink coats we had rented and started on our journey to the next half of the mountain. We had been told that the second part was harder then the first but that was an understatement. One I had no food so no energy and I hadn’t slept so I didn’t know what I was going to do. After a few hours of watching my friend Becka puking off the side, people freezing and me trying to have the energy to actually move we got to this one point of the mountain where it got so steep so steep and very slippery. I really didn’t think I could go any further. But the coolest experience happened! I saw this really tall building up at the top of the mountain and I had this strong feeling that that was the top of the mountain! I didn’t know how I would make it up but then I look to both sides of me and there were these rods to help you climb. First thought that came to my mind was “Hold to the rod” I remember distinctly getting a big smile on my face. Probably the first smile of the night. Then walking very slowly to the side and grabbed a hold of the iron rod and started climbing VERY SLOWLY but indeed I was moving. I didn’t have a bit of energy to sing but in my head I was singing Hold to the rod the iron rod. I watched those who did not hold onto the rod and they seemed to be struggling more then me. Some were just laying there trying to find some sort of energy to climb. I remember having a prayer in my heart asking to please help me to gain the energy to make it to the top. The time of climbing felt like no time at all! I could not comprehend w
hat had happened! It was like one minute I was at the break of tears exhausted and ready to fall over to sleep and then I had make it to the top of the biggest mountain I had ever seen. The happiness I felt was overwhelming. One of the most spiritual experiences of my life. Haha the funniest part of this story is that we never even got to see the Sunrise. The fog was so thick that day we didn’t even see the sun! Ah! We couldn’t believe it but I still was so proud of myself that it didn’t even matter. That was mainly our trip from Tian. Crazy weekend but definitely worth it!
