Summer Part 1

Living in Florida has its downfalls. 90 degrees with HIGH humidity is definitly one of them, which is why I leave for the majority of it. Every summer Wayne's mom plans a family vacation which is always one of my highlights for the year. This year we were able to enjoy a week at Big Bear California. Our Condos were amazing and we spent most of the time relaxing by the pool and playing cards. I think we were all in need of some intense downtime from our lives. Big Bear was perfect.

The first morning we all woke up and decided we needed to fill our sweet tooths by taking a walk to a quaint little donut shop. I figured Sam would be overwhelmed by all the selection, but I've never seen him make a decision easier in his life. Chocolate on Chocolate. (He's his mother's boy)

So much of our time was spent at the pool. I couldn't help but to snap some pictures of Sam with his Ba. He absolutely adores her. Plus, I love her in her big hat!

Wayne and I were able to get out on our own to do some sightseeing. The lake was beautiful. It reminded me of home in Washington. We also stopped by the most unique, and adorable antique shop. I of course was disappointed that I wouldn't have enough room to fit all the treasures I saw into my suitcase. I think Wayne however was just disturbed by all the creepy dolls they had.

Our 4th of July was wonderful. Wayne barbequed delicious steaks, corn on the cob, with baked potatoes. I made brownies which sadly did not turn out... Word of advice, NEVER buy cooking oil at the dollar store.
We planned to watch the fireworks from our balcony but after waiting and waiting for the show, we got impatient and walked down to the hill where all the other guest were sitting. We weren't planning on going out into public, hence all our non 4th of july attire. Overall, it was a great day.

On our last day all together we headed to the lake to take some family pictures. It is always rare to get one of all the grandkids smiling at me so I'm grateful for the ONE I got. I feel so lucky to have married into such a diverse family. How many families do you know where each grandchild has a different ethnicity?
Love them.

Our time at Big Bear was ideal. It went by way too fast, but I feel it couldn't have been any better. There was a lot of laughing, bonding, and crying. We were saddened with the fact that this was the first family vacation without Wayne's sister Heather, but her presence was felt. I couldn't imagine marrying into any other family, and am so grateful I got to spend this time with them.
